Saturday the community brought out their lawn chair for relaxing evening of music at the annual Gospel Fest that took place at Barrett’s Landing in downtown Franklin. The event was 
produced by the local gospel group The Brothers In Christ and free to the public. About five gospel music groups hit the stage including The Brothers In Christ, Johnny Ruffin Jr., God’s Boyz, Brothers in Unity of Virginia, The Southernaires of Suffolk and Maurice Yancey. The emcees for the afternoon event were Nancy Parham and Sandra Marshman. There were a few vendors selling a variety of food and merchandise. Some of the ones that stood out included, Rod Spann of Point Blank Designs, E’Nez Sweet Treats and Eats, Tacoma Davis of Queenz Slush Bar, Raymekia Bynum of Strong Faith Life Fragrances & Home Décor, Kiera Dawson of Ki’s Kreations, St. Mary Paradise of Praise Church and more.
